Guise this is serious ~ there was a turtle that was getting cyberbully’d then purposely got out of his shell hoping he would get stepped on in his way of committing suicide.

microprogressions:

Two elderly women at a train station.

Woman #1: Look at that woman in red jacket. What a lovely smile.

Woman #2: Isn’t that a man?

Woman #1: Nonsense.

Woman #2: He’s a man! You can see it in his hands, legs and face. A cross dresser, isn’t he? What do they call them these days? Transevette? He shouldn’t be dressed like that in public.

Woman #1: Oh, shush! Look at her, she’s smiling. She’s happier to be a woman.

Woman #2: People like him are an embarrassment.

Woman #1: I tell you what’s embarrassing, you still haven’t tidied up your front garden. Overgrown weeds? Now THAT is an embarrassment, love.

This is me and my boyfriend. We went out on the 14th of February this year and still going strong. We’re the only gay couple out in public in our area. Not afraid to show our affection to one another. It doesn’t go that well all the time however. We always get stares and picked upon quite a lot. An example of it was when we were walking around holding hands when two homophobic girls saw us and started laughing at us, right on our faces.
As soon as they realised it was two guys they shouted “OMG they’re gay! HA-HA-HA!” followed by a bombardment of mock laughs and taunting points with their fingers right in front of our faces. Their parents came out of the house, curious of what was going on and all they did was just stand there and stare.
So what did we do? As soon as I realised they were homophobes I told my boyfriend “Don’t let go.” and my boyfriend understood me immediately and said “Yeah.”. We walked laughing and smiling right in front of their faces, not afraid or affected of what they did to us. As they mocked us, teased us and bullied us, I kept telling him to not let go. I held his hand tightly and watched out for him in case they were stupid enough to take it too far. The only thing he did was smiled back. Right there and then, I have never been so proud to be what I am. This is me. This is my life. I don’t want to back down from bullies any more. With my boyfriend’s support by my side and him getting mine, we were able to overcome the fear we’ve had all our lives.
Yes, I am still scared of my safety but mostly my boyfriend’s safety, but at the end of the day, they can’t punch the gay out of us like how we can’t punch the ignorance out of them.
Those two girls probably came home thinking they won, but really, we’ve won a lot more than what they’ll ever get on their ignorant lives. So to all gay couples out there. Everyday is a battle but you’re never alone.

Most likely the best, comprehensive argument for Marriage equality I’ve Ever Heard.

NYS Senator Diane Savino speaks on the Marriage Equality bill (by NYSenate)

This is actually from the last time they debated a gay marriage bill (2009?) but it’s worth watching again.

I’m her friend on facebook (even though I am a lowly Mississippian and will never be able to vote for her). She’s AWESOME.

Amazing speech.

 Exactly

Our society needs more people like her. She is amazing.

Amazing art by Heike Weber!

Amazing art by Heike Weber!

Tagged as: Heike Weber, art, amazing,

I feel that no matter how hard I try I cannot get people to change or understand. And that is heart breaking.

I stand up when I see and injustice happen and I won’t stop. I will fight the good fight everyday, no matter what. No matter how many tears I shed, how many names I am called, how many scoffs and middle fingers I receive. I will always continue to encourage people to learn and to keep learning especially straight from the source, and I will continue to put down your lies with truth, your arrogance with knowledge, and your hate with love. I will not fall, I will not let your ignorance prevail.
